As I’ve aged, I’ve found it hard to find clothes to suit me.  I’m not very tall and I’m not very thin – and I feel ignored by the fashion industry despite being willing to spend money for good-quality clothes (I detest disposable fashion).  I don’t want to wear black all of the time, and I certainly don’t enjoy the pitiful ‘plus’ size clothes that swamp my 5’2″ frame.

Thank goodness for Gudrun Sjoden.  She gets it!  And she makes fun-yet-elegant clothes for people of all ages and all sizes.  Everything is ethically produced and there are organic options as well.  In the two years I’ve shopped with Gudrun, most everything I’ve ordered has been true to size, but they offer a great returns policy for mail order, and the few things I have sent back have been replaced or refunded with no hassle.

It took me a little time to understand how to shop with Gudrun, but once I got the hang of mixing her Basics with her Collection pieces, I was off.  Since her colours don’t change much from season to season, it’s easy to come up with new and exciting outfits using pieces from seasons past.  This is quality stuff, and everything washes, wears and lasts well.

turtle-dress

Pictured above is the super-cute Turtle dress in eco-cotton from the Autumn 2016 Chinatown Collection, £55.  It’s a lovely, lightweight fabric with no stretch – but don’t fear, it’s a generous cut and should suit most body types.  It’s also adjustable at the sides if you want to reign in the armholes a bit.  This dress comes in two colours (I have both!) and looks great with an undershirt and leggings.

harvest-dress

From the Autumn Magazine 2016 comes my favourite dress of the season, the Harvest dress in viscose, £79.  It’s a flattering wrap dress that’s well cut for curvy petites, and the two colour choices (again, I have both) are both very pretty.  It’s a slightly stretchy, forgiving dress that looks cute with an underdress, shirt, tights or leggings.  I wore this dress on Wednesday and had more compliments than I’ve had in a long time.  Win!

blueberry-dress

My favourite dress from the Autumn Basics 2016 is the Blueberry dress in organic jersey, £69.  It’s floaty, stretchy, and oh-so-comfortable.  I love this dress (I have it in the green, as pictured above) with colourful tights and a light scarf.  I’ve bought several dresses in this eco-cotton/elastane blend though the years and they have held up remarkably well with no fading or losing their shape.

One warning – the website is not typical of clothing sellers on line.  There are no product pages, so I’m unable to link to the items I’m showing you here.  I’ve done my best to give you as much information as I can so you can easily find them on the website.
