We gutted the linen closet today. Four bags of textiles and two bags of rubbish that neither of us can explain. I’m sure holding on to double-sized bed linen despite the fact we have a king-sized duvet made sense at some point, but we couldn’t take the untidiness any longer. Mr Fig and Pen is off to the tip and I’m washing the stuff we’re keeping.
We’ve also done quite a bit of work in the garden (Mr F&P, mainly) and it’s looking lovely. We planted twenty-five new plants yesterday, just in time for the rain. There are still trees to be shaped and pruned, but that job will have to wait until winter.
Our main project this week has been turning this:

Into this:

It really perks up the kitchen and makes me feel cheery when I walk into the room. I’d call that a win.
These little, annoying jobs have been hanging about for ages, and I don’t know why we waited so long to tackle them. Being depressed and dragged down by the state of the world certainly hasn’t helped, but making our own world a bit better place to be is making a huge difference to the well-being of everyone in this house.
