Luxurious Hand Creams

Ah, winter.  You are pretty, but you are harsh – especially on my poor hands.  But I will defeat you whilst smelling lovely. If you love the scent of roses and the feel of soft hands, may I suggest Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream, £14.50?  With its gorgeous blend of rose otto, palma rosa, and rose geranium essential oils, it’s a lovely natural scented hand cream with lanolin, camellia oil, and kukui nut oil to moisturise and protect hands, even in the harshest climate. Those needing something effective and anti-ageing, Nivea Q-10 Age Defying Hand Cream, £1.49, will make hands look younger almost instantly.  Packed with glycerine and Argan oil, it quickly gets to work hydrating and soothing dry, sore hands.  I always keep the travel size version in my handbag. With Ginkgo Biloba and shea butter, Rituals Ginkgo’s Secret Caring Hand Balm, £10.00, smells amazing and works well.  It sinks in well and never leaves a greasy residue, so it’s perfect if you’re at work.  I’m never without a tube of this in my desk …

Five Fantastic Products for under £5

Who doesn’t love a bargain?  Here are five products worth far more than their price. Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub is an absolute steal at £3.49.  It smells lovely and it removes rough, dead skin better than products three times its price.  It leaves my skin feeling soft and toned – never dry or uncomfortable.  It’s my favourite for my weekly Saturday scrub ritual. When I first purchased this product, I had no idea it wasn’t designed for my hair type (fine, dry, and slightly limp), and I’m glad, because knowing might have put me off and I would have missed the best deep conditioning treatment at this price point.  ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner costs just £4.07 for a generous 362ml bottle.  I apply it after shampooing, place a plastic shopping bag over my hair (oh, the glamour!), and wait about 20 minutes before rinsing.  I’m left with shiny, healthy hair that feels moisturised and hydrated. Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm has been a favourite of mine for many years.  I have tubes of this stuff …

In-Shower Body Moisturisers

I have a love/hate relationship with body lotion.  I love it because it makes my dry, flaky skin feel soothed and comfortable, but I hate it because it’s a pain to apply and can sometimes take ages to sink in.  Pulling tights over freshly-moisturised legs isn’t pleasant, and I find I often skip body lotion altogether because I can’t stand the faff. Luckily, there is a solution.  In-shower moisturisers leave skin feeling silky soft, and you can get dressed without delay- simply apply to skin, rinse, dry off and you’re ready go. Eveline Cosmetics Argan Oil In Shower Body Lotion, £8.99, leaves behind a light barrier which keeps even the driest skin feeling soft and moisturised.  Of all the brands I’ve tried, this one feels most like a traditional body lotion.  It’s also quite heavily scented, so I wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive skin.  It takes quite a bit of rinsing as it clings to skin quite well, but the effects do last until bedtime making it great for severely dry skin. If you find you …
