Makeup-Removing Cleansers

I’ve mentioned before that I can’t be bothered faffing about with a double cleanse.  To me, it seems a waste of time and product, and it doesn’t work well with my sensitive skin.  Over cleansing leaves my face tight, dry and very unhappy, so I like to use one effective cleanser to remove makeup and clean my skin at the end of the day.  If you’re the same, here are three you might like. If you prefer a cream cleanser, Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Hot Cloth Cleanser, £22.50, will remove every speck of makeup while leaving skin soft and smooth.  It’s fragrance free, which I love because it doesn’t sting or burn when used to remove eye makeup.  It comes with a good-quality muslin cloth that is gentle, yet effective. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, £21.50, removes even the heaviest makeup, including waterproof mascara.  Its formula is simple – mainly olive oil – and it does not contain any fragrance.  It does, however, contain an emulsifier so it rinses away cleanly without leaving any residue behind. …

Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cleanser

Having inflamed skin is upsetting.  It looks awful because it’s red and scaly, and it feels awful because red, scaly skin is sore.  When my skin gets like this, it stresses me, which I think makes the problem worse.  I have to be super-careful about what I use on my skin during these episodes, but not cleaning my face isn’t an option.  I need a gentle cleanser that will clean as well as comfort.  Thankfully, one exists. Skin Iceland Pure Cloud Cleanser is wonderfully mild.  It goes onto dry skin like a lotion and quickly lifts away excess oils, dead skin, and other grime.  Simply wipe it away with a hot muslin cloth and skin is clean, conditioned and calmed. This cleanser boasts an impressive list of ingredients including cocoa butter, cranberry seed oil and meadowfoam oil.  Also impressive is what it doesn’t contain: parabens, petrochemicals and synthetic fragrance, so it’s perfect for soothing irritated, angry skin. Effectiveness: 5 – this is a gentle-yet-thorough cleanser.  It removes makeup well. User Experience: 5 – creamy and it …

Skyn Iceland Fresh Start Mask

Someone once said that February is the cruelest month.  As far as my skin goes, that’s certainly true. Cold weather, central heating and a lack of sunshine turn my skin dull, flaky and almost as grey as the skies, and it takes a potent product to put some life and colour back in. When my skin is super-dull and my day-to-day routine doesn’t seem to help, I often turn to masks.  And Skyn Iceland’s Fresh Start Mask is outstanding.  Ten minutes with this concoction and my skin is restored.  I can’t think of many other masks that work this well. The Fresh Start Mask comes in two parts.  Step one is a blue clay mask which is applied to the face (avoiding eyes).  Step two – a special activating gel – goes over the top of this and then the two are massaged together to form the mask.  The mask does produce a pleasant tingling sensation that sensitive types might consider a little nippy.  It does pass quickly, though. After ten minutes, the mask is rinsed away and you can …
